International Women’s Day (IWD) events in Machynlleth are organised by a group of locals called Bro Ddyfi Women’s Network. Here is our programme for the day:

Clwb Bowlio Machynlleth Bowling Club

11.30am–1.30pm Rock Up!

Drop-in session for girls and women – have a go at playing guitar or drums like a rockstar. Run by the Rock Project. Free

2–3pm What does women’s equality mean to you?

A lively discussion led by Elena Blackmore and Bec Sanderson from the Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC). Come and share your ideas. Women-only. Free

3.30–5pm Tasty Welsh Taster / Blasu’r Gymraeg

Practise your Welsh while sampling delicious produce from local women. All welcome including complete beginners. Suggested donation on door £2 to cover tea and tastings. Cakes and produce for sale

6–7pm Hold Fast

Local women’s voices on slate, soil and soul, shared by Unearthed oral history collective in a special performance. All welcome. Free

8pm Cabaret

Packed night of music, comedy and readings from the area’s female stars including The Bung Bung Belles, Izzy Rabey, Julie Grady Thomas + women’s open mic (sign up in advance for your 3 minutes onstage: helensandler@gmail.com).
All welcome (age 14+)
Suggested donation on door: £2 to £8. Raffle
